Yeongamin ratatyöt on saatu siksi hyvin valmiiksi, että FIA:n tekninen delegaatti Charlie Whiting väläytti tiistaina vihreää valoa ensimmäisen Korean Grand Prix -kisan ajamiseksi puolentoista viikon kuluttua.
Saman tien uusi, kaikille vieras areena joutuu F1-maailman kirkkaimpiin parrasvaloihin, kun MM-taisto siirtyy kaikessa kireydessään Korean maaperälle.
Viimeksi vastaava tilanne MM-ratkaisuissa koettiin kaksi vuotta sitten, kun Singaporen iltakisa tuli ihan uutena mukaan ja oli silloin kauden neljänneksi viimeinen GP. Se kisa muistetaan Renaultin kieroilusta, jolla oli oma vaikutuksensa MM-taisteluunkin.
Kolme vuotta sitten Fuji oli uusi rata useimmille kuljettajille ja Japani oli kauden kolmanneksi viimeinen kisa. Siellä oltiin sateen armoilla ja Lewis Hamilton nousi voitollaan jo 17 pistettä Kimi Räikkösen edelle.
Kyselin muutamalta ammattiveljeltä, miten vieraalle radalle meneminen vaikuttaa mestariehdokkaiden arkeen.
Auto Sprint -lehden Alberto Antonini myöntää, että etukäteen kutkuttaa tavallista enemmän, kun täyttä varmuutta edes varikon käyttövalmiuksista ei vielä ole kenellekään.
– Kukaan ei lähde Koreaan itsevarmuutta korskuen, koska mikään kärkitalleista ei voi pitää valmistautumistaan riittävän hyvänä. Onnistuneeseen kisatapahtumaan vaikuttaa niin moni muukin asia kuin pelkästään rata. Jos järjestäjiltä jokin osatekijä on mennyt pieleen, koko viikonloppu on vaarassa, Antonini pohtii.
– Kun kukaan ei tunne rataa entuudestaan, yksikään tiimi ei pysty säätämään autojaan edes alustavasti. Kun tilanne on tällainen, kuljettajan merkitys kasvaa merkittävästi. Siksi veikkaan, että Fernando Alonsoa on vaikea, jos ei mahdoton, päihittää Koreassa. Huippumiehen arvoaan vaalivat varmasti myös Lewis Hamilton ja Sebastian Vettel. He ovat Alonson kovimmat haastajat.
– Eiköhän tuo kolmikko opi radan kaiken nopeimmin ja samalla nopeudella he nousevat vahvoille voittotaistossa.
– Kunhan Alonso onnistuu Koreassa, uskon Ferrarin vanhaan tapaan olevan taas voittaja-auto Brasiliassa, mutta Abu Dhabin finaalissa kenttä on sitten apposen avoin kaikille kärkitiimeille, Antonini arvioi.
TS:n F1-avustajana toimiva Formula Pressin Luis Vasconcelos vetää Korean näkymistä nostalgisia piirteitä.
– Tulee mieleen vanhat hyvät ajat, jolloin F1-väki lähti uudelle radalle käytännössä saamatta minkäänlaista informaatiota paikasta etukäteen. Varmasti piirustuksia on tutkittu tarkkaan ja tallit ovat keränneet kaiken mahdollisen tiedon käytetystä asfalttipinnoitteesta. Kaikkiin yksityiskohtiin on yritetty porautua, mutta totuus on, että kenellekään ei ole takeita, että autossa olisi juuri tälle radalle oikeat osat – vaihdevälityksestä, aerodynamiikasta ja jousituksesta lähtien.
– Simulaattorit auttavat paljon ja sellainen käsitys on, että McLarenilla olisi kaikkein tarkimmat laitteet Wokingin tehtaalla. Tämä antaa varmasti Hamiltonille ja Buttonille pienen edun etukäteen ajaa kaikkein lähimmin niillä pidoilla, millä sitten perjantain harjoitukset alkavat.
– Red Bull on kuitenkin paras auto tällä kaudella ja sillä on pieni koeajo tehtynä Yeongamissa kaksi kuukautta sitten – tosin eri pinnoitteella kuin lopullinen. Löisin kuitenkin rahani Red Bullin voitosta Koreassa ja sama pätee myös Brasilian ja Abu Dhabin kisoihin. Ferrari on varmasti erittäin kova Interlagossa ja McLaren Abu Dhabissa, mutta en usko niiden kuitenkaan lyövän Red Bullia.
Espanjalainen Jose Maria Rubio muistuttaa yhä, että kisa voi vieläkin peruuntua, jos ratapinta alkaa murtua perjantain harjoituksissa.
– Mutta jos kaikki menee suunnitellusti ja viikonloppu pystytään viemään lävitse, veikkaan Fernando Alonsolla olevan erittäin hyvät mahdollisuudet voittoon. Red Bull hallitsee varmasti radan nopeissa mutkissa ja McLaren pitkillä suorilla, mutta Ferrarilla on tänä päivänä kaikkein paras balanssi autossaan. Tämä on suuri etu, mikä auttaa Alonson löytämään kaikkein nopeimmin parhaat mahdolliset säädöt kaikille vieraalla uudella radalla.
– On myös kaikkien tiedossa, että Fernandon on pakko voittaa tämä kisa pystyäkseen vakavissaan kuromaan eroon piste-eroa Mark Webberiin. Jos Korea antaa etulyönnin, Brasiliassa Ferrari tietää, mitä tarvitaan voittoon ja silloin MM-taiston kannalta Red Bullin etu Abu Dhabissa ei olisi liian ratkaiseva. Uskon myös Webberin ja Vettelin keskinäisen taiston tuovan Red Bullille omat riskinsä Korean radalle, missä ajaminen on kaikille uusi kokemus.
Japanilaisen F1 Sokuho -kehden Koji Takashi sanoo suoraan, että Korean voimasuhteiden veikkaaminen on tavallista hankalampaa.
– Olen vähän huolissani, että koko tapahtumasta tulee pannukakku ja se vahingoittaa pahasti F1-historian hienointa MM-taistoa. Jos kisa joudutaan keskeyttämään asvaltin pettäessä, tässä vaiheessa kautta se olisi suoranainen katastrofi kaikille.
– Etukäteen näyttää, että Red Bullien ja erityisesti Vettelin päihittäminen käy koko ajan vaikeammaksi. Tuntuu, että Vettel voisi hyvinkin ottaa vaikka kolme voittoa peräkkäin. Jos Koreassa tulee täydet pisteet, Red Bull pääsee Brasiliaan loistavissa asemissa, Takashi tuumii.
Näissä mietteissä kohti Koreaa. Kysymys kuuluu siis, Alonso vai Red Bullit vai jokin uusi ihmeellinen käänne MM-taistoon?

Minun vastaus, tai veikkaus: uusi ihmeellinen käänne MM-taistoon.

Kunnon sadekeli ja uusi asfaltti onkin uskomattoman liukas. Voittoon Button ja pisteille paljon yllätysnimiä.

Tai kuiva ja helteinen keli murentaa asfaltin ja kaikki lähtevät kesken kotiin.

Jos kerta asfaltti on uusi ja liukas jo nyt,niin eihän siihen tarvita kuin pikkuisen vettä kisassa Alonson eteen niin seinä kutsuu,joten Webberillä ja Vettelillä helppo kisata kahdestaan tämä kisa ja loput ilman suurempia paineita

Veikkaan Red Bull Racing -tiimin voittoa Korean GP:ssä. Ei tähän mitään kovin suurta ennustajaa tarvita.

Mutta voihan siellä jotain kummallista tapahtua niin kuin on tällä kaudella aika paljon tapahtunutkin. Olisiko Red Bull Racing jo päässyt eroon tavastaan möhliä pilalle parhaan auton antama etu? Tätä tilannetta mielenkiinnolla seuraten matkustan iltateelle alakertaan.

Veikkaan (jotain veikatakseni) Alonson voittoa, koska Ferrarilla oli edellisessä huonoa tuuria.
Ensinnäkin koska rata on kaikille sama, jos se on liukas voi siihen liukkauteen sortua Wettel tai Weber aivan yhtä hyvin kun Alonso, tosin kokemus auttaa.
Jos Korean voittaja tulee joukosta joka ei taistele mestaruudesta, tulevaisuus riippuu aika paljon miten sijiittuvat mestaruudesta taistelevat.

Vettel ei ota kolmea voittoa peräkkäin. Massa on Interlagosissa lähes yhtä pitelemätön kuin Räikkönen aikanaan Spassa. Voi olla, että saa jopa luvan voittaa jos Massan ja Alonson väliin mahtuu 1 tai 2 Red Bullia.

Korean kisasta on vaikea sanoa mitään, mutta veikkaan jotain yllätystä ja peesaan Button-veikkausta. Red Bullin “veljekset” saattavat sortua paineen alla kun taas Jenson on fiksu kuljettaja ja osaa pitää huolta renkaistaan - ja ehkä myös murenevasta asfaltista.

Eikä pidä unohtaa, että molemmat Renaultit ottivat Japanissa unelmastartin - tuskin sattumalta. Mielenkiinnolla odotan, mitä ne tekevät Korean startissa.

Hän on raportoinut paikan päältä liki 300 Grand Prix -kisaa mm. Mika Häkkisen ja Kimi Räikkösen ratkaisevat mestaruuskisoista. Ensimmäisen kerran Kulta toimi varikolla median edustajana San Marinon GP-kisassa Imolassa 1983.
